What’s old is new again; as a seasoned executive I was introduced to a program called NMAP or New Manager Assimilation Program and it lays out who you are as a leader, let’s new teammates learn about what matters to you and how you will work together. It is usually a day long defined process. I have done it 5 time in my career as I have been promoted or new in role. It is critical to high performing teams!

This example is a one way conversation telling people how to working with you. While efficient, I think the NMAP would be better for my leadership style. Why, because I get to know the team as well!

That sounds awesome Christopher. Can you share a link?

Thanks so much Christopher!

And the funny thing is it’s by John Gabarro, who was my professor at Harvard Business School!

She sounds just like the micro-manager I currently have. Hands off, except every day when she interferes in the work to be done, and wants to second guess what you are doing. Do not like what I am reading.

Like Christopher noted, the theory behind Claire's guidebook is not new. What I like is how she put it into an easy to digest "owner's manual" for her team versus the "bullet-point" lists the new management training sessions tend to stress. Definitely a new tool for my tool box. Thanks!

“Easy to digest” is exactly right Barney. Sometimes that can be the most helpful!

This is golden!! My style is to be direct but always respectful, so Claire's idea really speaks to me. Open communication is what it's all about. I don't think I would ask anyone to join my team unless I could tell they would be comfortable operating this way themselves. Way to trailblaze Claire! And thank you for sharing Marc! GREAT info.

I think I'd enjoy working for Claire. ...And I want a huge sack of cash for the privilege.

Thanks for Sharing Marc. Good managers can find something useful and relevant if you look objectively at her words. Collaboration is the key. I will 100% use this moving forward. I appreciate you looking out for me...thanks
